Doing business in Uganda has never been easier than it is now. Uganda has prioritized Foreign Direct Investment and has put in place reforms such as obtaining a trading online system for a license, that makes registering and starting a business easier.
The Electricity Regulation Agency (ERA) has made electricity regulation reforms to have sustainable electricity supply in the business sector. The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has made reforms aimed at easing the process of doing business in Uganda such as the Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System (RECTS), operationalizing of the One-Stop Border Posts (OSBPs), etc. The government is developing a “One Stop Centre” business facilitation tower in Kololo where all the investment-related agencies will have offices to ease the process. Uganda is ranked by the World Bank Doing Business Index as 116 among 190 economies in the ease of doing business, with more improvements on the way.
